I discovered what web analytics represent to a website just 4 months ago. I saw the book “web analytics on hour a day” from Avisnash Kaushik in a library and the “About the Author” page mentioned his very popular blog on web analytics. I had no idea who was Avisnash and I was also really unaware of Web Analytics. I went to the blog and the article Excellent Analytics Tip #12: Unsuspected Correlations Are Sweet! was just written. I do not know if you read that post already, but all I know is the impact it actually had on me (nothing emotional – don’t worry
). I was so blown away by all the post itself and the correlation you have between metrics. It was just… huge!
Since that post I suddenly started to have an strong interest for web analytics and bought Avinash’s book. I’m constantly on his blog, and try to learn as much as I can on my own. Lucky me, 2 weeks after reading that post I was actually starting my new job as Digital Marketing Analyst. My job is PPC focused, although I will be more involve with SEO as I started learning this almost 3 years ago on my own, and this could largely benefit the company I’m working for.
I would like to have more knowledge/credit in web analytics, and I made some research on the web for trainings. I found the UBC Award of Achievement in Web Analytics which seems to be a complete cursus, for only 2700 Canadian Dollars, everything online. Considering the fact that I live in London, this means £1300 for only 4 months training (evening and week-end). I am seriously considering this option as I’m hungry for knowledge in web analytics, and this could clearly give me credit on my CV.
As a conclusion, big thanks to Avisnash Kaushik for transmitting his passion to me (and certainly to others!)

Hi.
Did you take part in the UBC course?
I am living in Berlin, Germany and I am also considering this option?
What are your experiences?
@Kjell
Hi Kjell,
The course was in my opinion very good, but it depends on the experience you have. I had experience in online marketing but never worked in an analytical environment at that time. It made me understood a lot of thing. Totally worth it, and even better if your company pay the course for you
